It’s all about the simple things in life. My favorite part about summer is spending evenings on the beach, especially spending evenings on the beach with wine and cheese. Date night doesn’t have to be a $200 tab at a fancy restaurant. Date night can be a cheap bottle of wine, a pizza, and the sand beneath your toes.
Plan a romantic sunset picnic. Whether it’s with your boyfriend or your best friend, here are 5 things you need to make it feel like a special occasion – for cheap:
Tapestry or Beach Blanket
Regular beach towels are too small to set up your picnic spread – not to mention they get sand everywhere. To prevent this from happening, bring an old beach blanket (or these fool proof ones I found on Amazon). If you want to add cool, boho vibes to the evening bring a tapestry to lay out. It’s worth it and can even be used for picnics in the park or simply laying out at home.
Wine (& Don’t Forget The Opener)
So, you have your feel good juice, but do NOT forget the glasses or the wine opener. Better yet, get a bottle with a screw off top. This will make it a lot easier and you don’t have to worry about it spilling everywhere. Although, I always carry a wine opener in my purse because you really never know when you’re going to need it! 😉 Also, I have to say my handy dandy corkscrew is a statement piece when I whip that thing out of my purse. Plus, it’s a weiner dog so it makes it even better.
Pump Up The Tunes
One of the most important things to bring and one of the easiest things to forget. Music always sets a nice mood no matter the situation and there really is a difference between playing it on your phone versus playing it on an actual speaker. Set those tunes up and VIBE girl. I have had my UE Boom for years and it has yet to fail me. I have beat it up in dirt, sand, and water (all on accident – sorry Boomy) and it still works as great as the first day I got it.
Camera, Lights, Action
I’m not saying that you need some high-end professional camera, but I am saying it might be a great time to break out Portrait mode on your phone. Better yet, bring your Polaroid camera and have some instant memories that you can hold on to or put in your wallet. I created an entire summer album of memories last year from carrying mine everywhere and it was worth every penny. Classic, handheld photos that will never get lost in your iPhone priceless.
Cheese, Cheese Dip, Cheese Puffs, & Cheesy Bread
Bring all the cheese. And then bring more.
The best part about this date night is that you can basically have it wherever you live. If you don’t have a beach nearby, you can do it in the park or in your backyard (maybe even in the living room ;).
Xoxo, Victoria
